Z88 is a fast, powerful and compact Finite Elements Analysis Program especially designed for PCs running Windows 95/Vista LINUX, Mac OS X and large computers with UNIX.
Z88 is a software package for solving structural mechanical, static problems with the aid of the Finite Element Method (FEM), which is available under GNU-GPL as free software with source code.
Z88 Aurora is based on Z88 and is available for Windows 32-BIT and 64-BIT for free download (as executable file).
In addition to the efficient solvers contained in Z88, Z88 Aurora offers a graphic user interface, a completely new preprocessor and an extension of the approved postprocessor Z88O.
Z88Aurora is divided in three different areas:
- FE-Preprocessor,
- FE-Solver and
- FE-Postprocessor.
The Preprocessor includes following functions:
Several import- and export exchange formats for:
Geometry:
- STEP-Data (*.STP),
- STL-Data in ASCII format (*.STL) and
- Autocad-Data (*.DXF),
and fe-structure data:
- NASTRAN (*.BDF, *.NAS),
- ABAQUS (*.INP),
- ANSYS (*.ANS) and
- COSMOS (*.COS).
Different meshing options:
- two freeware tetrahedron mesher
- one mapped mesher for superelement structures (hexahedron, shells, etc.)
One module for creating structure elements, (f.e. trusses, beams, etc.)
One editable and expandable material database,
The cababitity to process boundary conditions with a GUI (e.g. with node clicking)
The FE-Solver, which calculates displacements, stresses and node forces has following features:
24 fe-elements:
- Structure elements (trusses, beams and shafts),
- continuum elements (tetrahedrons and hexahedrons) and
- some special elements, like shells, continuum shells, tori and plates,
from linear to cubic approaches.
A variety of boundary conditions:
- Forces in all directions,
- displacemnets in all directions and
- pressure loads, positive and negative to the element face.
Four numerical solvers:
- One direct Cholesky-solver with Jennings storage for small fe-structures,
- two different pre-conditioned iterative sparse solver for big fe-structures and
- one direct multicore sparse solver (Pardiso) for mediu-sized fe-structures.
Calculation of stresses with three different criteria:
- Maximum shear stress criterion (von Mises),
- maximum stress theory (Rankine) and
- Tresca yield criterion.
The Postprocessor options:
- visualisation of the results
- statistic function for the calculated stresses
- single result export in -.CSV-format
